“The DJ is the key to all this. People don’t understand the secretworld you inhabit. They seem not to understand the music and the underground world you spend time trying to uncover. Most timeslistening to records by unknown artists, on labels no one knows about, singing songs that few have ever heard. For you are a member of aclosed order, you belong to one of the most pure and untainted musicalmovements ever. By playing these records in the right way the averageDJ has a tremendous power to affect people’s states of mind. A truly great DJ, just for a moment, can make the whole room fall in love. It is about generating shared moods; it’s about understanding the feelings of a group of people and directing them to a better place.” (Last Night A DJ Saved My Life -by Bill Brewster & Frank Broughton) In my words after you understand this about the soul music, the collectors, the djs and musiqave.com you become a soul sophistocrat, one of the few people in the know. We all different in our backgrounds and in our beliefs but ultimately I salute you guys, you make us wake up every day with a big smile and a sudden realisation that I am not alone. Maybe, like you, we are simply reluctant to see our favourite music die out which the rest of the world are choosing to move on, or maybe to us this is a form of documenting our lives, our love. Listen to the Soultans Vol 8 Mixtape with your soul…

Anyone who has seen DJ Dean play records in any scenario will be aware that he knows where the button marked “Soul” is located. If you have followed his Soulism and Soultans Series you can see the evolution of the sound that he serves to his listeners, dancers and the soul sophistocrats. DJ Dean is not afraid to rifle through the dusty racks for something old, new, borrowed and distinctly eclectic. Soul is part of who he is, his ultimate world that he generously dishes in his mixtapes. Soultans Volume 7 is an exact example of his ultimate soulful spirit, his unique ability to communicate at the same level and alongside his audience. What you are getting is not only a vast collection of soul music, but a collection of purely eccentric and artfully crafted mixtape. You are benefiting from years spent rooting about in musky establishments looking for that elusive song and/or albums that will make his set just a little bit more mesmerising each time you hear him. Each time you listen to DJ Dean, the deep satisfaction you experience will always feel like the first time.
As long as DJ Dean approves and gives it his stamp of approval, there is no room for disappointment. So play on, Get Soulised!

I am a Club & Mobile Dj, Have been djing since 1995 in Harare, Zimbabwe. Started my career in the music industry at Harpers Nightclub, then at Holiday Inn, Samora Machel. Was introduced into the game by Marky Mark and then saw the trade through the eyes of Frank, Martin Smooth & Jadie Jam & Bruce who were all resident Djs at Harpers.
The owner of the club Murelle Hayes then gave me residency at Harpers N/Club until we, Harpers crew, moved to Stars Studio, Sheraton were I became the 1st black dj to be the resident. I played at Stars Studio until 2003. From there I began guesting at different clubs within Harare ie, Maze, Circus & Mambo. Shared the stage with different djs over this period namely Darlington Masenda, Stan Musara, Stan “Pound” Sterling, Tich Mataz, Dee Nice, Smoove & a whole lot more.
By then we had managed to establish ourselves as the premier soul djs in Harare. Me and my partner Robbie Tee then started what became a phenomenon in Harare even up to this day, the infamous House Parties 1-6, in only the most affluent places in Harare. Up until 2006 we have been promoting Soul music as a brand in Harare. Mid June 2006 was invited to play in South Africa and have managed to get residency once a month at Club 96 in Fourways, have been djing around the world just playing soul music, am now a resident dj for é clubs 96 in SA and Symphony in Harare.

<itunes:summary>I am a Club #38; Mobile Dj, Have been djing since 1995 in Harare, Zimbabwe. Started my career in the music industry at Harpers Nightclub, then at Holiday Inn, Samora Machel. Was introduced into the game by Marky Mark and then saw the trade through the eyes of Frank, Martin Smooth #38; Jadie Jam #38; Bruce who were all resident Djs at Harpers.
The owner of the club Murelle Hayes then gave me residency at Harpers N/Club until we, Harpers crew, moved to Stars Studio, Sheraton were I became the 1st black dj to be the resident. I played at Stars Studio until 2003. From there I began guesting at different clubs within Harare ie, Maze, Circus #38; Mambo. Shared the stage with different djs over this period namely Darlington Masenda, Stan Musara, Stan "Pound" Sterling, Tich Mataz, Dee Nice, Smoove #38; a whole lot more.
Mid June 2006 was invited to play in South Africa and have managed to get residency once a month at Club 96 in Fourways, have been djing around the world just playing soul music, am now a resident dj for eacute; clubs 96 in SA and Symphony in Harare.
