Mista Cee

Picture the scene. Lonely semi-dark room in a Harare suburb - cassette tapes & make-shift tape decks lying forlorn on a lopsided wooden table. And then there's me, grubby fingers sorting through the kit, painstakingly trying to get decent sound from the equipment before me. Yes, it’s been a meteoric rise since the barrel of an Eversharp Ballpoint Pen was my chief instrument in fast-forwarding or rewinding cassette tapes. I loved my beats, but like most during those early years it was a hard task to give music my full attention not only, due to lack of equipment but also due other pressing issues, like “getting an education”. Back then, I was simply known as C. Marvin Muchando. It wasn't until the mid-1990's, when I joined Voice of Wits (VOW) campus radio in South Africa that my music preferences became more streamlined. Neo Urban Soul and Deep n Soul House were truly what got my pulse rate that little bit higher, and my adrenaline pumping just that little bit faster. Don’t get me wrong here, I love and follow soulful music in all its forms - conscious hip-hop, neo-soul, and real rnb, but then there is House music, Soulful and Deep. House music took my appreciation and understanding of the art of music to a whole new level. The exposure I had to major record labels while hosting my own show at VOW brought an awareness of my true calling and since then the neo urban soul and house music scene has remained at the heart of my music and continues to define my skills as a DJ. My musical/DJ influences include the likes of Glenn Underground, DJ Stax (aka Abicah Soul), Jazzy Jeff, Run DMC, Christos, Da Vinci & Otis 'tha flow' , just to name a few, who've all been instrumental in shaping my love of music and perfecting my art of mixing. MusiqAve is an extension of my musical development and it certainly gives me the opportunity to push my own boundaries and broaden my skills while challenging listeners into entering my zone “Tha Mista Cee Zone” – defined by true Urban and Soulful Sounds and showcasing unsigned, unknown, and under the radar Musicians, Beatmakers, Vocalists, Artists and DJ's from around the world. MusiqAve was conceived through my partnership with “ tha mixmaster” DJ Mujay with whom I share the same vision in music. If you love to party, night life will never be same again, MusiqAve, will be putting together events, in the coming months, were you can expect to hear and boogie to real music, putting Soul back into night life!!! This is not the end but the beginning of a significant avenue in my musical journey and I hope you stick around to travel the long road with me! I hope to get into music production at some point, who knows…..

Kelvin 'Soul' Supreme

My insatiable thirst to entertain first began in my high school years when I played the role of the Prince of Morrocco in the Shakesperean play The Merchant of Venice.Whilst the adrenalin rush of being on stage was a distinct attraction, the overiding appeal was the oppurtunity to share and display emotion. I became determined to express myself and in time found myself singing in a band called 'Flight' led by Michael Lannas, Brian Paul and Denzil Weale. These grand men sharpened my understanding and appreciation of music and had an enduring disdain for mediocrity. In all honesty. I was driven more than anything by glamour and celebrity but discovered almost inadvertently that with music, I could make people happy. I was able to take in a persons life experiences and tell their story with music. More than anything to tell someone that I understood. I have had the good fortune of presenting radio programmes on two national stations in Zimbabwe namely Radio 3 and Radio 1. ZBC TV also had the temerity to thrust my face and form on your tv screens doing commercial and sports programmes. I have been inspired in my work by John Matinde undoubtedly the best radio presenter ever in Zimbabwe, Joshua Makawa and Robin Shava the late former Head of Radio One. These are the people who honed the little skills that I have managed to develop. I was however first encouraged to pursue a broadcasting career by two Germans Barbara Skerath and Helmut Osang who on first hearing me broadcast as a student in Zimbabwe pulled certain strings to allow me to attend a Professional Broadcasting Course with the Voice of Germany Deutsche Welle. On completing my course I worked broadcasting worldwide from Cologne for a service that is not dissimilar to the World Service of the BBC and after managing to secure an interview with the then President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Richard Weizsaecker. I am especially privileged to be working with Dj Mujay and Mista Cee in our common resolve to preserve a genre of music that has enhanced lives all over the world. Musiqave.com celebrates that music and is forever mindful that soul music is the music of love and understanding. I am hopeful that whoever you are, and where ever you are ,that you will have occasion to hear some of the music I share and will accept that it is delivered with genuine love and affection. In the words of the esteemed Dj Mujay 'Listen with your Soul' In Soul We Trust. Soulsupreme

Swift T

Swift T aka Tawanda Chiwira The music freak who just so happens to have some natural speed to go with the beat. Mum used to collect music when I was young and I carried on that love. Always wanted to DJ but another path was set, one of speed, leading me to the Olympics, the USA and other competitions. The passion never left. Musiqave has graciously allowed me to paint their site with a touch of swiftness. Gone a long way since the school corridors of Churchill Boys High in H-Town, Zimbabwe. Just off Musiq Avenue there is a road called Swift Lane. That is where I dwell. Big up to mixologist Mista Cee, Mix Master Mujay, Sammy T (we go back a long way!), Don Dzasta, Soul Supreme, The Groove, Stormski, Olympians (Lewban, Brian Dzingai) and everyone else in musicland and athletics land. Be Housepired!
